Pamplona

Internationally known for its festivals, the Sanfermines, Pamplona offers visitors a nearby city with all the necessary services.

The Gastronomy

Navarra is a community with one of the best culinary traditions of the country. Visitors will enjoy the wide range of flavors offered by the Navarrese cuisine.

Who has not heard of the miniature lettuce hearts of Tudela, the white beans from Sangüesa, the red Piquillo peppers from Lodosa or the asparagus from Navarra.

The excellent produce from the riverside fertile region blend harmoniously with the excellent meats from the Pyrenees and fresh fish from the Cantabrian Sea. All washed down by its famous wines.

The climate

Pamplona's climate is a mixture between Mediterranean and Atlantic. It is usually warm-cold, full of contrasts and varies from year to year. Overall it is a pleasant climate, although temperatures above 35 degrees have been recorded in July and August and below 0 degrees in January.

Directions

Pamplona is well connected. Located 407 kilometers from Madrid, 434 km from Barcelona, 176 km from Zaragoza and 158 km from Bilbao. The Northern dual carriageway allows you to reach San Sebastian in 45 minutes, and Vitoria in little more than an hour if you take the Sakana carriageway. These roads allow quick access to the international airports of Bilbao and Biarritz. And, if you prefer, you can take a daily flight linking Madrid and Barcelona to the Noáin airport or travel by train.

BY CAR

For access to and from the city, Pamplona is connected to a road network that leave from the city towards Huesca, Zaragoza, Logroño, San Sebastián and Irún.

From Madrid
There are two routes to Pamplona. You can take the A-2 dual carriageway to Medinaceli, then the N-111 National road to Soria and the N-122 to Tudela. From there you can follow the N-121 National road or the toll motorway AP-15. Another option is to take the A-1 from Madrid towards Burgos and Vitoria.
Be careful when you reach Alsasua: the road forks to San Sebastián and to Pamplona on the A-15. Take the latter.

From Barcelona
From Barcelona, take the AP-2 motorway to Alfajarín, in Zaragoza. From there, take the AP-68 that links with the AP-15 and will take you to Pamplona. On the way there are three toll sections.

From Biarritz

• A-8 Behovia motorway and link to the N-121 A Behovia-Pamplona over the Belate pass, towards Pamplona
• A-8 Behovia motorway to San Sebastián where it connects to the A15, to Pamplona

Desde Bilbao

AP 68, towards Vitoria and then the Sakana dual carriageway ( N-240 A), until Alsasua: the road forks to San Sebastián and to Pamplona on the A-15. Take the latter.

BY PLANE

The airport is located in Noáin, about seven kilometers from Pamplona (Pamplona-Zaragoza Rd Km.6, 5), but is well connected by road to the capital.

The nearest international airport is in Bilbao, about two hours from Pamplona (159Km) or Biarritz in France, 3 hours from Pamplona.

Pamplona airport has approximately 5 flights daily to/from Madrid and Barcelona. There is a bus line from the airport to the city center, and you can also get from the airport to Pamplona by taxi (15 euros approx.) o by car (10-15 minutes). BY TRAIN

The passenger railroad station is located in the neighborhood of San Jorge, not far from the city center, and there are regular routes to Alicante, Alsasua, Barcelona, Burgos, Coruña, Irún, Hendaya, León, Lugo, Madrid (Altaria), Orense, Oviedo, Palencia, San Sebastián, Valencia, Vigo, Vitoria and Zaragoza. When arriving from the South, you have to change trains in Madrid.
