A cordial invitation to participate in the 5th Student Research Contest will be held at the XXV Pan American Conference of Naval Engineering, Maritime Transport and Port Engineering held in Panama from October 16 to 19, 2017.
The Student Works Competition is governed by the following guidelines:

I) Of the formation of equipment and characteristics of its members:
  1. A work will be accepted by each enrolled member or if the case exists, by a team composed of a maximum of 4 members.
  2. Each work Must have at least one professor in the area of ​​Naval Engineering, Maritime Transport and Port Engineering.
II) Of the division by categories:

It will consist of three categories:

  1. The First Category will correspond to undergraduate students who study a program related to Naval Engineering, Maritime Transport and Port Engineering.
  2. The Second Category will correspond to postgraduate students who attend a program related to Naval Engineering, Maritime Transport and Port Engineering.
III) Dates for the registration process for the student work contest
  1. Student are asked to register for the contest and communicate with the Organizing Committee of the Congress, no later than June 15, 2017 at 11:59 pm, with the full name of the speaker and current academic degree , University, institution and educational program of origin, full name of the advisor professor related to a program related to Naval Engineering, Maritime Transport and Port Engineering, title of the presentation, summary and category to participate, without exception to: copinaval2017@barcelocongresos.com
  2. The acceptance of abstracts for the student research contest will be notified until June 30, 2017.
IV) Dates for review process and acceptance of student work
  1. Students are requested to send the complete papers for the review and acceptance of the works with the Organizing Committee of the Congress, no later than July 17, 2017 at 23:59 hours, which is the date and Deadline for receipt of the complete work to be done in Word, without exception to: copinaval2017@barcelocongresos.com
  2. It is recommended that the works contain the following structure: Introduction; Characterization of the problem; Bibliographic review; Method of solution; Results; Conclusions and recommendations; Bibliographic references.
  3. The topics addressed should be related to at least one of the following areas:

    • Marine Environmental Impact
    • Maritime and Coastal Resources
  5. The winners of the student research contest will be notified until August 17.
  6. The winning papers will have a maximum of 15 minutes and will be controlled by the members of the Congress Committee. Papers should be submitted on time as directed by the Competition Coordination. They will not be reprogrammed in the absence of the rapporteur.
  7. Papers should be presented in Power Point format, which may contain text, figures, tables, graphs and / or videos. At the bottom of the slides you must carry the references from which the information was obtained. It is recommended to avoid excessive use of text in order to facilitate the understanding of the same by our public.
V) Evaluation of Papers
  1. Papers will be evaluated by members of the Congress Committee.
  2. A round of questions will be held.
  3. Content, innovation, progress to the state of art, and relevance in the area of ​​Naval Engineering, Maritime Transport and Port Engineering will be evaluated.
VI) Awards
  1. Winners will not pay for the publication of their works.
  2. The winners will not pay the registration to the XXV Pan American Congress of Naval Engineering, Maritime Transport and Port Engineering.
  3. The winners will have a 20% discount on air tickets to attend the congress.
  4. Winners will have a discount on accommodation to attend the conference.
  5. The public awards will be held at the closing ceremony of the XXV Pan-American Congress of Naval Engineering, Maritime Transport and Port Engineering.
  6. The students participating in the contest and having the second and third place will not pay for the publication of their works.
  7. The students participating in the contest and having the second
