Dr. Octavio de Cintra recibió su D.D.S. de la Universidad de Campinas - UNICAMP - Sao Paulo / Brasil. Obtuvo su formación oral y maxilofacial en la Universidad y el Hospital de la Santa Casa de Misericordia de Sao Paulo, su beca fue en el Centro Médico Southwestern, en Dallas - División de Cirugía Oral y Maxilofacial, Hospital Parkland Memorial, de Dallas, Texas, EE.UU. Es uno de los cinco miembros del S.O.R.G. - Grupo de América Latina y es el vicepresidente de S.A.A.F. (Fundación Sudamericana Arnett). Mantiene una práctica privada enfocada estrictamente en la cirugía ortognática en Sao Paulo / SP, Brasil.


Dr. Edwards received his dental degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He then came to the University of Michigan where he completed his medical degree and residency training in oral and maxillofacial surgery. He then completed fellowship training in pediatric cleft and craniofacial surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. A second fellowship in head and neck oncologic surgery and microvascular surgery brought him back to the University of Michigan where he has since remained as faculty.

Professionally, Dr. Edwards is the Chief of Pediatric Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and the residency program director. His research has focused on cleft and craniofacial care and sleep disorders, their genesis and treatment. Dr. Edwards serves on many regional, national and international committees, has served as a section editor for the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and reviews for many journals.


Dr. Fernandes is a Board certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. He holds dual appointments in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Surgical Oncology at the University of Florida College of Medicine -­- Jacksonville. Currently, he serves as the Chief of Head and Neck Surgery, Director of the Head and Neck/Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery fellowship and Associate Chairman of the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Boston University and Doctorate in Dental Medicine from the Goldman School of Dental Medicine, also at Boston University. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine and completed residency training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham as well. Upon completion of his residency, he began a 2 year combined Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Surgery Fellowship at the University of Maryland College of Medicine. Since completing his fellowship training he has maintained an academic appointment at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville.
Dr. Fernandes currently serves as chair of the education committee of the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally and has authored several manuscripts in the areas of head and neck oncology and reconstructive surgery as well a single author textbook in reconstructive surgery of the head and neck.

Piet Haers received both his medical and dental degrees from the University of Leuven, Belgium. He then began his training in oral and maxillofacial surgery in Brugge, Belgium. This was continued in Arnhem, The Netherlands and was then completed in Zurich, Switzerland. From 1991 until 1999, he was Assistant Professor (Oberarzt) in the Department of Craniofacial Surgery at the University Hospital in Zurich under the direction of Professor Sailer.From 1999 he has been consultant in oral and maxilofacial surgery in The Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford, UK.He has 70 publications, 13 contributions to chapters and 30 invited lectures. He was assistant editor of the IJOMS since 1996 and took over the reins as Editor in Chief in 1999. Dr. Helman maintains his focus on the surgical management of head and neck pathology, oral and maxillofacial cancer, head and neck reconstruction as well as surgical management of Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome. His current research focus is on Clinical Outcome Measures and his current projects are recurrence rates in the management of Keratocystic Odontogenic Tumors, success rates in the surgical treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea, and Maxillofacial findings on patients with Nevoid Basal Cell Carcinoma Syndrome (Gorlin Syndrome) and several other collaborative projects involving reconstruction and tissue engineering. Reviewer of national and international scientific journals. Published 59 scientific journal articles, contributed to 11 book chapters and presented at hundreds of national and international meetings


Bodo Hoffmeister graduated in 1968. He did his medical and dental degree at the Christian-Albrecht-University Kiel where he received his D.D.S in 1975 and his M.D. in 1977 and became Specialist in Maxillofacial Surgery in 1982, Specialist in Facial Plastic Surgery1986 and PhD 1987. Since 1994 he is Chairman of the Dept. of Maxillofacial Surgery and Facial Plastic Surgery, Charité - Campus Benjamin Franklin.

Dr. Alexander D. Rapidis studied Dentistry and Medicine at the University of Athens, Greece, and received his PhD in Oral Medicine and Pathology from the same university. After training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of London, UK, he became an Honorary Lecturer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at King's College Hospital Medical School, London. Since 1990, Professor Rapidis has been Chairman of the Department of Head and Neck / Maxillofacial Surgery in the Greek Anticancer Institute, "Saint Savvas Hospital", Athens. He was elected Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Athens in 2000, an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Maxillofacial Surgery at Eastman Dental Institute, University College London, UK in 2004, and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences and Pathology at the University of Maryland Dental School, Baltimore, USA in 2007. In August 2007 he was appointed Hon. Professor in Maxillofacial Surgery at Eastman Dental Institute, University College London. He is also Chairman of the Comprehensive Multidisciplinary Therapeutic Management Team in head and neck cancer of the Greek Anticancer Institute, "Saint Savvas Hospital", Athens. He is the President of International Academy of Oral Oncology (IAOO) and Secretary General of the International Federation of Head and Neck Oncologic Societies (IFHNOS).

El Dr. Sarnachiaro obtuvo su título de odontólogo en la Facultad de Odontología, Universidad de Buenos Aires, y se graduó con honores. Completó su Residencia en Cirugía Oral en el Hospital Interzonal de Agudos Eva Perón y obtuvo su certificado en Prostodoncia en el Instituto Científico de Buenos Aires. Sarnachiaro completó un Programa de Becas en Implantología Oral como parte del programa de educación continua de University of Pittsburgh en Argentina. Regresó a los Estados Unidos en 2003, obtuvo su título de Cirujano Dental en New York University College of Dentistry (NYUCD), y una vez más se graduó con honores. Prof. Henning Schliephake received his training in OMF Surgery / Facial Plastic Surgery in Hannover, where he also did his PhD degree. He became full professor and chair of the Dept. of OMF Surgery at the Georg August University in Göttingen in 2001. He has chaired several scientific organisations and is Editorial board member of a number of national and international journals. His research foci are oncologic & reconstructive surgery, tissue engineering and QoL in Head and Neck Oncology.


Actualmente, Dennis P. Tarnow es Profesor Clínico de Periodontología y Director de Educación sobre Implantes Dentales en Columbia School of Dental Medicine. El Dr. Tarnow cuenta con un certificado en Periodontología y Prostodoncia y es Diplomado de American Board of Periodontology. Ha recibido los premios Master Clinician Award entregados por American Academy of Periodontology y el premio Teacher of the Year Award de parte de New York University. El Dr. Tarnow tiene un consultorio privado en la Ciudad de Nueva York y se puso su nombre a una de las alas de New York University College of Dentistry para rendirle homenaje. Dr. Brent B. Ward, DDS, MD, FACS is Associate Professor, Chairman and Section Head of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery/Hospital Dentistry at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and University of Michigan Hospitals. He is director of the Oral/Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery fellowship and is actively involved in the clinic and operating rooms. His clinical practice is focused on the treatment of cancer and pre-cancer as well as minor and major reconstruction. As a member of the University of Michigan Nanotechnology Institute for Medicine and the Biological Sciences he runs an active lab with projects that have included nanostructure targeted chemotherapy to Head and Neck Cancer and personalized pain management with physiologic triggered rescue. He is currently the President of the American Academy of Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons.
