Dr. Ramon L Ruiz is a member of the Department of Children’s Surgery at the Arnold
Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, Florida where he serves as Director of the
Pediatric Craniomaxillofacial Surgery service and the Craniofacial Disorders Team. He
serves as Chair of the Children’s Hospital Department of Surgery and maintains an appointment as Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Central
Florida, College of Medicine.
Dr. Ruiz completed General Surgery and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at the
University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill under the direction of Dr. Timothy A.
Turvey. Following residency, Dr. Ruiz was the first Pediatric Craniofacial Surgery
fellow at the Posnick Center for Facial Plastic Surgery and Georgetown University
Medical Center where he trained under the guidance of a world-authority in craniofacial
surgery; Dr. Jeffrey C. Posnick.
Dr. Ruiz is board certified in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Fellowship qualified in
Pediatric Craniofacial Surgery. His clinical practice is focused on cleft lip and palate
repair, surgery for craniosynostosis and complex craniofacial deformities, orthognathic
surgery, and treatment of facial injuries in children. Dr. Ruiz has published extensively on these subjects, and is a frequently invited lecturer at scientific congresses nationally and
internationally. He also serves as program director for the fellowship in Pediatric
Craniomaxillofacial Surgery educating young surgeons from North America and abroad.
